NSTAC

Cyber Moonshot
The goal of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC) "Cyber Moonshot" effort is to make the Internet safe and secure over the next ten years. Ron Gula has participated in a variety of the working groups and is an ecosystem workshop board advisor. The concept of the "cyber poverty line" was developed during the second moonshot workshop held in 2019 at the US Air Force Academy.

Defending Digital Campaigns

Defending Digital Campaigns
In 2019, the Federal Elections Commission authorized Defending Digital Campaigns to provide education and research for civic institutions on cybersecurity best practices and assist them in implementing technologies, processes, resources, and solutions for enhancing cybersecurity and resilience to hostile cyber acts targeting the domestic democratic process. Ron Gula joined the board in 2019.

HCEDA

Howard County Economic Development Authority
The Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA) helps businesses start and grow in Howard County, Maryland. It operates the Howard County Tech Council, the Howard County Innovation Center and the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship. Cyndi Gula joined the HCEDA board in 2016 and is currently Vice Chair and a commisioner on the Equal Business Opportunity Commision.

National Cyber Education Program

National Cyber Education Program
In partnership with Discovery Education, the National Cyber Education Program plans to serve 30 million K-12 students and 3 million teachers with cyber security curriculium. The program is operated by the National Cyber Group (NCG). Cynid Gula joined the NCG board in 2018.

National Security Institute

National Security Institute
The National Security Institute (NSI) at George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School is dedicated to finding practical answers to national security law and policy questions. NSI produces a variety of technical policy papers and events each year. NSI advisory board and fellows are often sought after by journalists and government agencies for their expertise in technology. Ron Gula joined the NSI advisory board in 2018.

Wilson Center

Wilson Center Congressional Cybersecurity Lab
The Wilson Center's Digital Futures Project operates the Congressional Cybersecurity Lab. The core of the Lab is a six-week seminar series that introduces senior congressional staffers to foundational topics in cybersecurity: how networks work and what defends them, key bad actors and their tools and the roles of different sectors in preventing or responding to threats. In 2018, Ron Gula joined the Wilson Center as a Global Fellow to support and participate in the Congressional Cybersecurity Lab.

Maryland Gov

Excel Maryland
In 2017, Governor Larry Hogan launched a comprehensive, statewide economic development strategy called Excel Maryland. The initiative focused on developing new collaborative strategies to accelerate growth in the life sciences and cybersecurity industries. Ron Gula served on the Excel Maryland steering committee and participated in a variety of work-shops and strategy meetings to help produce a comprehensive set of recommendations for the Governor.
