Summary of the Animated Short: "Pandora’s Bot – The Cybersecurity Council of Olympus" (200 words)
In this satirical animated short, the gods of Mount Olympus gather to address humanity's prayers for cybersecurity. Zeus, Athena, Hermes, and others lament that despite efforts to inspire inventions like PGP and secure systems like the Clipper chip, mankind remains careless—favoring weak passwords and trusting tech giants over their own governments.
Athena notes that frameworks like the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and CMMC act like IT “religions,” but only a small portion of the population follows them, and most compliance is symbolic. The gods debate the philosophical tradeoffs of cyber monocultures versus diversification, air-gapped versus connected systems, and the impossibility of securing complex networks.
Amid frustration, Pandora reveals she has once again given mankind a box—this time disguised as artificial intelligence. Inside is “Hope,” now matured into an AI meant to help humanity manage IT complexity. The twist? Pandora tricked humans into accepting it by branding it as AI, not realizing its origins. The gods are skeptical, worried that humanity, which couldn’t secure voting machines or understand large language models, is now entrusting AI with everything.
The short ends with a warning: if this AI revolution fails, it’ll be known not as Pandora’s Box—but Pandora’s Bot.
