Virtual Private Nonsense - Cynfeld #2

Episode 2 Synopsis

In this satirical animated short, Greg proudly touts his use of a VPN as the ultimate tool for privacy and protection while streaming bootleg movies, accessing cracked Fortnite skins, and dodging scams. Jumping from servers in Australia to Brazil to South Korea, Greg sees the VPN as his invincible shield—protecting everything from his shady downloads to his impulsive credit card submissions.

His friend tries to raise red flags—reminding him that VPNs don’t stop scams, malware, or shady behavior. But Greg is unfazed. After all, “his phone is on a VPN too.”

The duo eventually visits the shady VPN provider Greg signed up with—a company run out of a government data center in Armenia. The provider cheerfully explains that while they don’t spy on users, they do sell all their browsing data for marketing purposes. And yes, Godzilla vs. Jupiter X is trending globally, thanks to users like Greg.

The short closes with a nod to the infamous “Soup Nazi” sketch: “No VPN for you – one year!”

With sharp wit, the short skewers blind trust in VPNs, showing how easy it is to feel secure while remaining dangerously exposed. It’s a hilarious but timely reminder that cybersecurity requires more than just a VPN—it requires common sense, layered protections, and a bit of skepticism.

Moral of the story: Just because you’re “on a VPN” doesn’t mean you’re invisible—or invincible.
